Co-owners: Barbara Charlton and Frances Oppenheimer
Fran and Barb are the third set of owners in Hookers' Nook's 30+ year history.
In the early 1970's, Hooker's Nook was first opened in 'The Backyard', a shopping center located in Lincolnshire, IL by Jean Russell, Nancy Dickenson and Sharon Walter who were neighbors in Riverwoods. They sold needlepoint and latch-hook rug canvasses and supplies. The staff remained small until the move to Deerfield about four or five years later. At the time of the move, Latch- hooking (never very popular) was phased out and custom on-site framing began.

The original store in 'The Backyard' - Lincolnshire, IL
Where does the name 'Hookers Nook' come from you ask? Hookers Nook started out as a store specializing in supplies for hook rugs and needle point canvases and supplies. Over time the store changed to focusing on needlepoint and phased out the hook rug supplies.
